Many of those who decided to lose weight to take in the various forms of physical activity. Unfortunately, sometimes it happens that we have chosen the wrong kind of movement, and it is not about comparing the advantages of, for example, football with swimming, but about the issue of choosing the type of training appropriate to our predispositions and purpose. Some people, in order to get rid of fat, reach for intense cardio training, while others in turn take the barbell and do weight training. Which of these types of activities will help us better down the weight?
Strength training is associated in the general consciousness as "packing" in the gym. Unfortunately, this is a very confusing and often stigmatizing term for those involved in this type of physical activity. In this "industry" includes both classic powerlifting, but also calisthenics, or exercises with your own body weight. The fact is that this type of training is most often taken by athletes, players of hitting sports (boxing, MMA, etc.), and its aim is mainly to increase the physical strength and muscle mass of the exerciser. Well, it looks like we're not dealing here with burning calories too much, right? After all, to have strength, you have to eat, and if you eat it, you do not lose weight. And it is a big mistake.
The issue of strength training is related to the key issue - resting metabolism. This is an issue that tells us how quickly and how efficiently our body can process metabolic products - which translates into whether we have a tendency to weight gain. "Rest" tells us that it's about how much our body burns calories, when even ... we're lying upside down! Moment, that is, you can "lie and smell" and at the same time lose weight? Of course!
This is the result of research carried out in this matter. It was found that immediately after strength training, the organisms of the subjects examined burned more calories than in the analogous situation after the cardio training. And although in itself, typical strength activity will help us to build muscle mass, the ace that hides in the sleeve is really a strong card encouraging to try, as is commonly said - waving with iron.
Cardio training in recent years has gained great recognition, but I will say otherwise - gained a second life. Why? Well, no more or less under this Latin name ("cardio" tells us something about the heart) hides ... what we did in good old PE! Yes, it is not a mistake. Running, cycling, walking, etc. a set of "hard labors" from PE can be fully considered as cardio training. It aims to fine-tune the endurance of the exerciser, and due to the intense form of the exercises, it is perfectly suitable for reducing fat tissue.
Undertaking regular cardio training has one, slightly perverse advantage - the more you weigh, the more you lose out of your fats, which can result in a drastic change of body in a fairly short time. The amount of calories burned depends on the physique of the exerciser and how intensely you exercise. Well, with this kind of activity you have to pull hard. Endurance training, as it is known as cardio, allows us to burn fat basically on a regular basis, at every training session, because this is its main goal, next to improved performance.
Aristotle already claimed that "the truth lies in the middle". And it is very similar in this matter. As it was mentioned earlier, in the case of cardio training, the amount of calories burned depends on the body building of the exerciser and how much of it he gives during the training session. In contrast, strength training does not give such a clear effect in the form of weight loss, but ...
According to relatively new studies, regular rubbing of iron, obviously undertaken in a reasonable dimension (both load and intensity of exercises) is probably a bit more effective in shedding unnecessary body ballast. Why? Well, however, it is hard to observe a significant decrease in calories in subjects who exercise strength, but their weight "flew" even after the finished training session! Awesome, right?
Here again, we return to the so-called resting metabolism - it is he who, colloquially speaking, does all the work to lose unnecessary kilograms. People who exercise by force, because of the regular and forcing processes of anabolic training, turn up their metabolism. The body needs more nutrients, they get into the bloodstream more quickly, and thus they are used more quickly. In a nutshell - you train on Monday, and the effects in the form of accelerated burning of calories "hold" for a few days.
In conclusion, both types of training have their undeniable advantages - cardio is better performance and faster time to reduce the inclination. Strength training also allows you to develop the body, and as it turns out, also slimmed us, but in the long run. The final decision is yours, but be aware that regardless of whether you chose endurance training or a typical gym - you have already won. You started to move. Just do not forget about reason and prudence - after all, changing your habits is a marathon, not a sprint, right?
