You should take care of your own ear hygiene regularly. It would be out, because many of us really only remember it when there is a problem, e.g. otitis. What about ear cleaning? This point is especially important for young children. In a moment you will learn how to properly clean your ears and care for them every day.
Let's be clear about it - few of us actually care for our ears regularly and in the right way. Will you say that you use ear buds once a week or two?
First, it's a bad method, and second, that's not what cleaning the ears really is, especially for children and the elderly.
Most of us remember having ears when we start to become hard of hearing or have ears in pain, most often caused by otitis.
Probably the most common cause of pain in our ears. It is nothing more than a classic inflammation that can be caused by an infection of a bacterial, viral or fungal nature, physical damage to the internal structures of the ear, but also by the presence of a foreign solid in it.
Our ears are made of three parts: the outer ear, the middle ear, and the inner ear.
Otitis can affect any of them. While we do not have space here to describe the detailed structure of each of these parts, it is necessary to mention that in order to be sure that the cause of our ear pain is inflammation, appropriate tests should be performed. In the case of the outer ear (pinna) it is not difficult because lesions are usually visible. Does it hurt deeper? The ENT specialist must already visit here.
Symptoms of otitis include - depending on how “deep” the problem is - pain, fever, swelling, reduced or lost hearing, and even purulent discharge. It is very dangerous to have labyrinthitis manifested by nystagmus, dizziness, imbalance, and even procuring vomiting.
Here, the intervention of a specialist, i.e. an ENT specialist, is always necessary.
How to cure otitis?
This mainly involves administering appropriate medications to the patient, usually antibiotics, and therapy is supported by supplements or other medications appropriate to the symptoms / causes of inflammation. Therapy should be started as soon as possible. Untreated ear inflammation can lead to serious complications, including hearing loss, labyrinth damage and meningitis, especially.
Therefore, in the case of the hearing organ, it is so important to maintain its proper hygiene, i.e. in human terms - the ears should be cleaned. Fortunately, each of us can take care of them on their own. We suggest how to do it.
The basic - and very often fully sufficient - procedure is ear rinsing.
It is important to know how to do this properly.
Before we discuss this issue, it is necessary to explain that we do not clean our ears with popular "ear buds".
Fingering with a cotton stick with a stick can only really aggravate the problem, for example by pushing the earwax deep into the ear and "churning" it there, which will make it difficult to get rid of. The ears have a natural self-cleaning ability. Along with earwax, pathogens, foreign substances accumulate and the most important thing we can do is simply to make it easier to leave our ear.
Rinsing is the best way to do this.
For cleaning the ears as a prophylaxis, we can use appropriate preparations that will soften the earwax.
Are you cleaning your right ear? Lie on your left side. After a few minutes, the preparation will properly soften the wax plug and it will flow out by itself. Sometimes you can "help" him by directing a light stream of warm water over the ear. The suppository should flow out with her.
If we do not have professional preparations at hand, and the problem is quite serious, we can clean the ears in other ways: with physiological saline, hydrogen peroxide, and even plain water. Here we are already talking about rinsing the ears. The place where we will do it should be an ENT office.
Undertaking procedures involving the operation of a syringe is not recommended to be performed by yourself, especially at home. We only go to a specialist for rinsing. The ear rinses in young children should be approached with a little more care. Why?
Here, appropriate prevention is particularly important, and cleaning with home methods should be limited only to the possible use of drops or sprays. Children very often "catch" water in their ears while playing in the swimming pools, swimming at home, and playing in the water on holiday beaches.
If we are talking about the youngest children, we must be aware that their hearing system is extremely delicately built.
Drops and sprays will work, and you can use an ordinary olive at home. Do you know our product Solwax?
The use of basic ear hygiene procedures will allow us to keep them in a relatively good condition.
