Schizochytrium algae, currently grown in controlled crops, contain one of the essential fatty acids for the human body: unsaturated DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid).
It can be safely said that they are a component of all cells in our body, and they are all the more valuable as we cannot synthesize it on our own. Hence the need to deliver them externally, by food.
Supplements work great as a "carrier" of omega-3 fatty acids, but ... vegetarians, due to the fact that the preparations available on the market are animal products (fish, seafood, etc.), this dietary group had to find another source of them. DHA and EPA from algae also toughen the baby, so that it has a lower risk of heart disease and is less (even up to 70%) exposed to skin diseases.
The fatty acid content in Schizochytrium is about 17-18% and unfortunately, in order to assimilate adequate amounts of DHA and EPA from them, you would have to eat them even kilograms. And this is where medicine comes in handy, and more specifically algae preparations, which are the best way to provide "sprouts of other" fatty acids.
In themselves, Schizochytrium algae also contain a lot of iodine, which in excess is a powerful threat to our health and disrupts our thyroid glands and the endocrine system. We do not have it in supplements, because only the necessary ingredients are extracted from algae, in this case fatty acids, the content of which is then standardized.
